You have now entered 307's room.

You glance a little at the door before you push it open- there's no semblance of a nametag. Two thoughts run through your mind as you look at the door and the overflowing folder of medical paperwork pinned up- "Do they even have a name?" and "Poor kid." You shrug these thoughts off and enter.

Oh, hello! Who are you? You don't have a lab uniform on, so I'm assuming you're a new patient?

You shake your head. Patient 307 sighs.

Well then- Hi! I don't know why you're here, but I'm 307. I'm assuming you wanted to see what's wrong with me? It's a very famous case- they say I'm set to be the next Phineas Gage- that is, if they'll ever release my story. I'm classified information!

"So that really is their name..." By any means, you're horrifed by how casual they are about this. You begrudgingly nod- you don't want to seem invasive, but you'd like to know exactly what kind of ailments these kids have to deserve being stuck in such a place.

Well, then- time for a physical demonstration!

307 removes the sweatshirt they're wearing, revealing what looks to be- a metal tank top? It seems to be indented into their body. There's a glass window around the chest area- it's fogged up, but you can see things moving around inside.

Are those... organs?

"OH GOD..."

Oh, come on, it's not that bad. Wanna see a cool trick?

You don't get a chance to shake your head no- 307 removes what you now know is an artifical ribcage. They lay back on their bunk and remove their own heart.

What's with the face? I swear, it doesn't hurt- I'll be fine! Really!

You're starting to feel a little sick.

Thankfully, they pick up on the mood shift and reassemble themselves, struggling a little with re-instating the ribcage. But, they do it and they slide their sweater back on and look at you with a wide grin. Their eyes look wide and panicked- though you haven't a clue as to why.

Well, wanna know why I can just remove my organs casually? It's not a common talent by any means-

You nervously nod.

Well, it's a whole scandal around here- but, to make it short, some interns thought it would be funny to make the perfect example corpse! You know, for dissection studies! So, of course, they collected all the healthiest organs and removed the pesky ribcage and some spots of skin because those obstruct the view- and then they went to get the formaldehyde, and while they were gone I woke up. Gave them quite the fright when they walked back in.

"Am I hearing this kid right?"

You try to hide your skepticism, but 307 sees right through you.

I can see it on your face- you don't believe me, huh?

307 sighs dejectedly while you fervently shake your head- You believe them! You can't think of any other way this could have happened, anyways.

Yeah, they don't know. They don't know why I managed to stay alive through all of that, they don't know how I'm alive now, even I don't know if I'm really alive.

Eel walks by the door, overhearing that last snippet and bursting in.

307, you are not supposed to discuss-

They look very angry. You get the feeling you've broken some unspoken rule.

I know, I know, "No talking about death around the corpse." Everyone here knows except them and that's because they're new- you're giving them the tour, right?

307, quite contrary to how they've been acting with you previously, almost seems standoffish.

Why else would I be down here?

Eel looks livid at this point. You are somewhat worried for what they might do to 307.

I dunno, sometimes they have you run files-

307 gives an honest answer, not picking up on the rhetorical nature of the question- or maybe they do know, and they just want to answer anyways. You feel you're reading too much into this.

Anyways! I think our guest has heard enough- Come on, there's... other patients you can talk to.

The implications of Eel's words make you feel off. What's so wrong with talking to 307? Yet again you get that feeling, and you wonder how much longer Eel will tolerate your presence.

307 looks horribly saddened by this news, and they reach out a hand to you.

I'll give you a better tour- Trust me! I know this place in and out, I could even take you to the medicine storage cabinets- I could talk Jolly into letting us in!

You have two choices: Go with 307 or stay with Eel.

Take 307's hand.

Follow Eel and return to the hall.

These links are debunk- check in another time, maybe then they'll be up!
